So we kayaked to Laurito and stopped for lunch. This is pretty much everyones favourite place for lunch in the summer. It gets very busy at weekends and mid summer, but we were lucky as it was the last Monday in May and not too crowded.
Here's the menu in the corner of the restaurant. But we don't need that, we know exactly what we want to eat here!
Da Adolfos is rebuilt on the beach every year. The flooring is just the beach, the tables and chairs are simple and foldaway but the view stretches all the way down the Amalfi Coast towards the Faraglione of Capri in the distance.
The Carpaccio di Tonno..there are no words to describe how good this is. Fresh slivers of tuna marinated in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic and parsley...I probably could eat this forever.
Of course you cannot go to Adolfos without trying the famous mozzarella grilled on lemon leaves. The essence of the lemon is infused into the mozzarella and it is simply sublime.
Skye, without fail will always order a plate of Spaghetti con Vongole, which is a good thing as she can never manage a whole plate and I get to finish it off for her.
There is a lot of getting up and wandering around between courses. Some people even have a quick swim..
Zuppa di Cozze must be eaten with fingers and the juices that are left over must be mopped up with fresh crusty bread..
Pleading eyes get rewarded too...
And another favourite is the Spaghetti con Zucchini and Totani (pink squid), so we order that too to share..
When desssert arrived (Croccantino, a cross between ice cream and mousse with crunchy bits and an amazing sauce) I nearly forgot to photograph it...In fact, the other dessert, a slice of pear and ricotta cake was gobbled up so fast that there is no proof it ever sat on our table...
After lunch the kids burn it off like this:
We sit on the beach and wonder how long it will be until we get to eat our favourite foods again..
